“Render unto God what is God’s and unto Caeser what is Caeser’s.”

I just purchased my online 2024 tax software so I can get my taxes done well in advance of the April 15th deadline. Not sure why I am hurrying since I most likely will not get any money back. I just hate that hanging over my head. In the scripture above, Jesus is telling us to do our best to follow the law, even if we may not agree on it from a fiscal mindset. There are times where breaking the law is righteous, i.e. helping slaves to escape before the Emancipation Proclamation. But, when it comes to paying our taxes, there may seem to be some wiggle room, or is there? As Christians, we are faced with moral dilemmas on a regular basis. We should strive to do the right thing even when no one is looking. Lord, help us to do the right thing even when it costs us more.
